Air-quality sensing for rooms that do not need another screen.

Aura AQ Satellites are planned as compact, purpose-built devices that extend Aura coverage indoors and outside. The first hardware choices are still open, so community feedback can shape what gets built.

Names, sensor combinations, hardware, enclosures, power options and the number of versions may change after prototyping and community feedback.

Current concepts · Updated 13 August 2026

Four early concepts open to change.

These concepts make the early choices concrete enough to discuss. Each card can change once PCB design, sensor testing, power budgets and real placements start shaping the hardware.

Aura AQ Satellite Lite

The essential room signals for ventilation and comfort context.

Aura AQ Satellite Standard

Adds VOC and NOx sensing for a broader view of changing indoor air.

Aura AQ Satellite Pro

The widest current sensing concept for rooms that need more detail.

Outdoor conceptCurrent concept

Aura AQ Outdoor Satellite

Local outdoor measurements for Hub ventilation guidance without an online outdoor-data source.

Possible sensor set
  • Relative humidity
  • Temperature
  • Particulate matter

A future CO sensor would provide an additional air-quality reading. It would not replace a certified carbon monoxide alarm.

Part of the Aura ecosystem

More measurement points, one local picture.

The current direction uses Hub as the local centre for future Satellites. Link remains optional and adds online services only when you choose them. Final pairing and connectivity details are still open.

01 · Measure

Indoor Satellites

Place compact screenless sensing where a full Aura AQ display is unnecessary.

Concept stage
02 · Understand locally

Aura AQ Hub

Bring room readings and local outdoor measurements into one dedicated view.

Working prototype
03 · Extend by choice

Optional Aura AQ Link

Add remote access, hosted history, alerts, reports and broader outdoor context.

Private alpha · Demo available
Outdoor concept

Ventilation guidance from local measurements.

A future Outdoor Satellite is intended to give Hub on-site outdoor data without depending on an online outdoor-data source.

Online option

Link adds a much wider context.

Provider feeds, regional hazards and forecasts can complement local measurements when internet and Link are available.

Current priority

Hub and Link come first.

They provide the connection, display, storage and interpretation foundation that future Satellites will need.

Planned direction

Beyond sensing

Future control Satellites are planned for supported equipment.

These separate devices could interface with equipment such as extractor and ventilation fans. The current direction is for Hub to manage them locally, with Link adding remote monitoring and control through Hub.

These would be separate from Lite, Standard and Pro sensing devices. Supported equipment, interfaces, automation and safety rules are not final.

Concept boundaries

Hardware, power, connectivity and pricing are not decided.

I am sharing these ideas before hardware design begins so feedback can influence the first prototypes.

01

Hardware and enclosure

The custom PCB, physical size, enclosure and environmental protection still need prototypes and testing.

02

Power and connectivity

Power options and the final connection implementation have not been selected.

03

Names and sensor sets

Lite, Standard, Pro and Outdoor are working concepts. The names, sensors and number of versions may change.

04

Price and availability

There is no price, release date or order programme. Hardware work will follow the current Hub and Link focus.

First thoughts about Aura AQ Satellites

Built around the rooms people actually want to monitor.

Volodymyr Papush · Creator of Aura AQ

Many of you have asked for smaller Aura devices without screens. I agree that Satellites are an important next step for the Aura ecosystem.

I want them to be purpose-built devices on custom PCBs, not smaller copies of the current touchscreen station. The exact hardware is still open because I want prototypes and real use cases to decide what belongs in each version.

My current focus is Aura AQ Hub and Aura AQ Link. Together they create the foundation needed to connect, display, store and understand data from future Satellites. I will share more when the first hardware and PCB concepts are ready.

Aura AQ Satellites FAQ

What the concept means today.

These answers will change as hardware decisions move into prototypes.

Can I buy an Aura AQ Satellite now?

No. Aura AQ Satellites are at the concept stage. There is no hardware prototype, final specification, price or release date yet.

Are Lite, Standard and Pro final product names?

No. They describe the current direction and make community feedback easier to discuss. The names, sensor combinations and number of versions may all change after prototyping.

Will Satellites need Aura AQ Link?

Link is not planned as a requirement for local monitoring. The current direction uses Aura AQ Hub as the local centre, with optional Link features requiring internet. Final connectivity details are not decided.

Will the Outdoor Satellite replace Aura AQ Link?

No. Its planned role is to give Hub local outdoor measurements for ventilation guidance. Link adds broader environmental context, remote access, hosted history, notifications and reports when you choose to use it.

Will Satellites control extractor fans or other equipment?

A separate family of control Satellites is planned for supported external equipment such as extractor and ventilation fans. They are not the Lite, Standard or Pro sensing concepts. Interfaces, supported equipment, safety rules and automation are not final.

Which Satellite would you put in your rooms?

Tell me which version you would use, how many you would need, what sensors are missing and which external equipment you would want a future control Satellite to work with.
